Hubei Huimin Cotton Machine Harvested Large Varieties Debut at the 2024 Wuhan Seed Trade Fair

On April 9th, 2024, the Wuhan Seed Fair was grandly held at the Wuhan International Convention and Exhibition Center. Hubei Huimin Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. participated in the seed fair with the cotton machine harvested variety GS Huamian 2270.

GS Huamian 2270 (National Approval Cotton 20220039) has a summer sowing growth period of 100 days, a plant height of 85.6 centimeters, a clothing percentage of 40.8%, and a pre frost flowering rate of 96.4%. It is suitable for harvesting by a wheat (oil) live broadcast machine. This variety is resistant to withering, Verticillium wilt, high temperature, and cotton bollworm. The average length of the upper half of HVICC fiber is 29.0 millimeters, with a fracture specific strength of 31.4 cN/tex, a micronaire value of 4.6, and a fiber quality of type II. The average yield of cotton in the two-year district trial increased by 14.1%. This variety has a significant increase in yield and is of high quality. It is resistant to diseases, pests, and high temperatures, and is particularly early maturing. In the extreme heat and drought conditions of the Yangtze River Basin in 2022, the anthers and pollen fertility of "GS Huamian 2270" were normal, achieving high yield.

At the trade fair, Academician Zhang Xianlong of Huazhong Agricultural University, Academician Zou Xuexue, President of Hunan Agricultural University, Vice President Jiang Xiexin of the China Seed Association, Chief Agronomist Li Zongyou of the Hubei Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Dean You Aiqing of the Hubei Academy of Agricultural Sciences, as well as some leaders of the agricultural authorities in Wuhan, Hubei Province and the main responsible persons of various member units of the Hubei Seed Association, inspected the Hubei Huimin booth.

Academician Zhang Xianlong highly affirmed and supported the GS Huamian 2270 product. The leaders and experts on site took the initiative to endorse this variety, which greatly encouraged Hubei Huimin.

Huamian GS2270 was selected and bred by Academician Zhang Xianlong of Huazhong Agricultural University. It is a new variety of cotton for light and simplified cultivation, suitable for wheat (oil) harvesting and planting in the Yangtze River Basin. It will effectively solve the problem of no seeds available for cotton planting mode reform in the Yangtze River Basin.
