On September 8, 2016, the national new corn varieties core display site observation activities were held in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. In order to promote the promotion of fine new varieties of grain crops, speed up the upgrading of leading varieties, and optimize the layout of varieties, the National Agricultural Technology extension Service Center, on the basis of continuing to do a good job in the public welfare display and demonstration of major crop varieties, select fine varieties of major grain crops such as corn, rice and wheat, and build a core display and demonstration platform for new varieties of major crops in the country in major grain producing areas such as the Northeast, Huang Huai Hai and the Yangtze River basin, this year took the lead in the Huang-Huai-Hai region to carry out the national corn core demonstration activities.

"The display and demonstration of new crop varieties is the follow-up work of variety testing and approval. It is an important way to publicize and promote the promotion of new crop varieties and accelerate the transformation of agricultural scientific and technological achievements. Zhang Yi, Director of the Regional Trial Division of the National Agricultural Technology Extension Service Center, said, "The national core display of new corn varieties integrates resources from all parties, relies on market forces, and uses a third-party perspective to publicize, recommend, and track and evaluate the national trial of various experimental channels. On the afternoon of September 8, the 2016 National Huanghuaihai Summer Maize Variety Experimental Training Conference was held. Experts and scholars from the front line of corn seed production research explained and reported some latest research results to the participants. Li Shaokun, a researcher at the Institute of Science and Technology of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, analyzed the changes in corn planting density and yield in various regions of China in recent years, and compared with the corn planting situation in the United States, and put forward suggestions for high-yield corn planting.
Dai Jingrui evaluated the joint exhibition of new varieties and believed that these exhibitors had done a good job in variety research and development, especially in the suitability of machine harvesting and lodging resistance, which showed the strong scientific research strength of domestic corn seed production. Dai Jingrui said: "From the perspective of demand, machine harvesting of corn kernels is more advanced than any other production mode, which has been proved by corn production all over the world, machine harvesting can greatly improve the efficiency of large-scale corn production. Although it cannot be fully rolled out in the Huanghuaihai area in a short period of time, this is the future direction."
"In the future, corn breeding will focus on 'saving water, fertilizer and medicine, 'and pursue sustainable development of ecological and environmental protection." Zhao Jioran, director and researcher of the Maize Center of the Beijing Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences, said in a report on corn engineering breeding, "In order to reduce labor costs, full mechanization will be one of the important directions. In addition, wide adaptation, multi-resistance and efficient use of resources are also important breeding directions, reducing the cost of agricultural inputs such as fertilizer, irrigation and plant protection, and improving market competitiveness by saving costs and improving quality and efficiency."
Chen Shaojiang, a professor at China Agricultural University, introduced maize haploid technology and reviewed the development history and application of haploid technology. He believed that haploid technology should be combined with engineering breeding to strengthen the maturity of technology. Chen Weicheng, a professor at Henan Agricultural University, reviewed the history of corn seed production in Henan Province and China, and suggested that multiple corn varieties should be subdivided, the core promotion area of each variety should be delineated, and the variety characteristics should be made.
